Phellion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering small business owners in Greece through capital, education, and expert resources. We exist because Greek entrepreneurship deserves a global advocate.
Greece has one of the most resilient and inventive entrepreneurial cultures in the world. From family-run tavernas passed down through generations to first-generation tech founders building in Athens — the ambition has never been the problem.
Phellion was founded in 2024 to close that gap. We recognized that small business owners in Greece were being underserved — not just by traditional financial institutions, but by a lack of accessible, practical resources that could help them start, grow, and sustain their businesses.
The name Phellion is rooted in the Greek word for cork oak — a tree known for its resilience, regenerative properties, and deep roots. Like the cork oak, Greek entrepreneurship is built to endure. Our role is simply to help it grow.
We operate as a global incubator — bridging Greece’s entrepreneurial spirit with international expertise, diaspora networks, and donor support. We designed our application and funding process to be as simple and accessible as possible. No bureaucracy. No endless paperwork. Just a straightforward path from application to funding.
Submit your application
Complete our online application in approximately 5 minutes. Tell us about your business, your funding needs, and how you plan to use the capital. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis — there are no deadlines.
Application review
Our team reviews every application within two weeks. We evaluate each submission based on business viability, intended use of funds, and alignment with our mission. We may reach out via email if we need additional information.
Funding decision
Approved applicants receive a funding offer outlining the grant or loan amount, terms, and any conditions. Micro-grants are non-repayable. Short-term loans carry a low interest rate and are repaid over 12 to 24 months.
Ongoing support
Funding is just the beginning. Phellion recipients also gain access to our network of legal advisors, marketing consultants, and business strategists who can provide guidance as your business grows.
Accessibility
Capital and resources should not be gatekept. We work to make funding as accessible as possible for every eligible Greek entrepreneur regardless of background or connections.
Transparency
We are fully accountable to our donors and applicants. Our financials, allocation of funds, and program outcomes are available to anyone who asks.
